So 2 blogs ago I made a post called 2 years in the life…
In that post, I outlined all the things that had gone on in the TWO YEARS since I posted before that, and then followed up by saying “I promise it won’t be another 2 years” until you hear from me again… and keep my promise I did!! In fact this time, it’s been 9 years… WOOPS>>>
But I assure you it’s been an amazing 9 years, emphasis on the last couple for sure!! A little over 3 years ago I made the heartbreaking decision to close my beloved Green Barn to boarders. I had a bunch of stuff going on in my personal life which made it impossible for me to continue to provide the attention and devotion my clients were used to me giving them and their horses (they’re the moms and dads and I’m Auntie Jeffi, remember??)
I subsequently leased my entire farm out to a wonderful friend and moved down the road to get my ducks in a row, focus on my incredible daughter and refocus on my other business – No Worries Pet and Farm Sitting. The respite was sorely needed, and I spent the next months traveling, living and loving. And oh what a beautiful life God has given me!!! I absolutely know that He was thinking of me when he inspired the prophet to write in Joel 2:25:
“I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten”
I married the love of my life, Brian, in February 2024 and he and I finalized the adoption of our daughter this past September after 10 YEARS of pouring my heart and soul into her. I inherited 2 more amazing tween kiddos when we married, not to mention the best in-law family ON THE PLANET – spreading from PA to NY to CA to FL. If that wasn’t enough, we then bought our dream home in Brentwood, a historic house called the Shy-Redmond built in 1895 by Dr. James Redmond for his wife, Jennie Shy (niece of Colonel William Shy of Shy’s Hill) and spent the next 9 months completely renovating it before renewing our vows right on the front steps for the world (and all of Franklin Rd) to see! Anyone that knows me knows my favorite book and movie of all time is Gone With the Wind – so to be living in a piece of history from that time period is just… beyond! Brian opened his new Erie insurance office back in November and capped off his first quarter by placing #2 in all of Nashville and winning the prestigious Allure award – so proud of him!!
With so much amazingness, would it be crazy to say I still felt like there was a little piece of my heart missing? I have to admit, every time someone said “didn’t you sell your farm??” and my response was “NOOOOO!!! It’s just leased out!!” I would feel a little prick in my soul. I LOVE MY FARM. IT’S STILL MY HEART AND SOUL. GOD GAVE IT TO ME years and years ago and I promised Him I would honor Him with it for as long as he saw fit to bless me with it. And come hell or high water, He has!!!
So what’s next you ask?
On September 1, 2026 – exactly 16 years to the date of our original grand opening celebration, the Green Barn will officially re-open to boarders. Under the vigilant hand of our barn manager and head trainer, Ainsley Slicker, TGB will be rebranded as a competitive eventing barn with a focus on training up the next generation of riders and OF COURSE on the meticulous care and deep passion for the horse we have always been proud to offer.
Excited doesn’t even come close… I am so looking forward to seeing you guys at the barn again!!!
